Do I have to pay taxes on St. Maarten, and what are revenues from taxes used for?

Yes. The law requires that you pay taxes on St. Maarten. Revenues from taxes are used to fund essential public services such as infrastructure (roads), education, healthcare, and other community needs.

How do I get a CRIB Number?

To register for an Individual CRIB Number, you must complete and submit the Personal CRIB Number Registration Form along with copies of a valid ID card or passport, proof of address (either a detailed census registration form not older than 6 months or a recent utility bill)

Who must file an Income Tax Return?

Every natural person who receives worldwide income must file an income tax return with the Inspectorate of Taxes, and if you do not receive a mailed invitation, you are still required to file on your own within 36 months from the return’s due date.

Can I pay my taxes online?

Yes, you can pay your taxes and government fees online via bank transfer using the following accounts: Windward Island Bank (WIB) – USD: 324800-05, XCG: 324800-03; or RBC Royal Bank – USD: 8200000403930461, XCG: 8200000005425048.

How long do I have to file before I am considered non-compliant?

You have two (2) months from the date of the invitation to file your tax return by completing and submitting the (paper) tax return form. If you cannot submit it within this period, you must request a postponement from the Inspector before the deadline expires. It is recommended to request the postponement via email to taxinfo@sintmaartengov.org , including your name, CRIB number, the period for which you are requesting an extension, and the reason. If you fail to submit your tax return within the set period (including any approved extension), the Inspector will send a reminder. Failure to submit after the reminder will result in a fine, escalating with repeated defaults as follows: first default XCG 250, second XCG 500, third XCG 1,000, fourth XCG 1,500, and fifth XCG 2,500.
